The WI-FI on the Food and Beverage Industry

Besides quality and good service, the food and beverage industry customers search for some extras, a greater reason for choosing one restaurant or another. This is the cause why the restaurant owners must increase its benefits in order to improve the consumer satisfaction. A great idea is Wi-Fi, the wireless local area network to Internet in its business.

Wi-Fi is the easier and fastest way to get your laptop online really fast and without needing to change your personal configuration. The network is composed by a master access point which is usually placed in the restaurant or bar reception; and some other wireless access points multi-located throughout the different spaces.

The next step for the implementation of the network is deciding whether we are going to offer a free service or if we will charge a cost to our clients. In the case we wanted to receive a compensation for it we have different options:

First of all, customers could buy a prepaid ticket that will give them access to Internet when they introduce the login and the password. Those vouchers will be valid during a stipulated time and they cannot be used in future visits or by other customers. Once the available time is over, the system eliminates the login and the passwords making them useless.

In the other hand, there is the chance of contracting a system through a Wi-Fi Network operator and fund it with advertising. Anyway, both systems could be optimized regarding to the safety if we install a data protection program to prevent that users could enter to anyone documents or folders.

This network might be complemented with other technologies as for example a business’ Web or an online reservation tool which allows customers to make reservations through their PC’s at home. A restaurant without Website will not lose clients, but may probably not make new ones because if ever someone checks the restaurant offer by Internet, a restaurant with no Web site will never be shown.

The solution is to bet on future techs.
