COFFEE: Consumed but unknown
Coffee has become an essential drink in our daily routine. There are nearly 70 varieties of coffee plants, being the Arabica and Robusta species the more frequently sold. Coffee comes from the coffee plant, a bush of around 3 to 6 meters that in some varieties can reach 12 meters.
The coffee plant has flowers similar to jasmine and leaves like those of the laurel or lemon tree. The green fruit it carries becomes roasted beans after a delicate process known as “roasting“.
The Arabica coffee bean is elongated, elliptic and with a blue-green tint. It has characteristic flavour that is smooth, balanced, aromatic and with a pronounced acidity.
The coffee beans of the Robusta variety are round and t heir colouring is yellow and brown. It has a strong and slightly bitter flavour that lingers in the palate.
The secret to the best espresso is in controlling all the interdependent variables that are involved in its preparation. Having curiosity to try different varieties and origins and demanding high quality raw materials are important to obtain your client’s satisfaction.
